JOB TITLE:  Teacher / Supervisor

REPORTS TO:  Academy Supervisor and Administrator

SUPERVISES: Students

NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB:

A Supervisor/Teacher is a professional educator. Because a teacher teaches a little by what he/she says, more by what he/she does, but most by what he/she has done in the life of a supervisor/teacher will be reflected in the lives and attitudes of the students.

The supervisor/teacher’s job is to assure that all students learn the basic and essential skills at each grade level.

JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Instruction Process
    • Plans and implements a program of instruction that adheres to the school philosophy, goals, and objectives as outlined in the adopted courses of study.
    • Creates a classroom/learning center environment conducive to by learning by employing a variety of appropriate teaching strategies’. Encourages student enthusiasm for the learning process and the development of good study habits. 
    • Provides progress reports as required.
    • Plans and prescribes purposeful assignments for tutors and volunteers as needed. 
    • A Supervisor/Teacher should exhibit creativity and flexibility. The ability to shift gears or change boats in midstream is essential.
    • A Supervisor/Teacher should have desire, ability, and experience in soul winning and discipleship.
    • Inspiring achievement in the students is the supervisor’s foremost responsibility and should demand most of his time, from the beginning until the end of daily activities. The supervisor is involved with students testing, prescribing curriculum, and reporting, compiling, and filing student academic results.
    • Praising students and encouraging then to do their best.
    • Praising, encouraging, motivating, and building student’s confidence daily.
    • Listening to oral reports.
    • Grading essays, test papers, poems, etc., during planning time.
  1. Classroom Management
  1. Develops, reasonable rules of classroom/learning center behavior and appropriate discipline techniques which are consistently applied.
  2. Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipments, materials, and facilities.
  3. Share responsibility during the school day for supervision of student in all areas of the school.
  4. Public Relations
  1. Upholds and enforces board policy, administrative procedures and school rules and regulations and is supportive of them to the public.
  2. Maintains appropriate work habits including regular and punctual attendance, appropriate dress code and appropriate use of conference and planning time.
  3. Works cooperatively with parents to strengthen the educational program for their children.
  4. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with other staff members
  5. Other related duties as needed.
